He also represents PE and VC funds and financial institutions investing in China-based companies.
Jingzhou Tao joined the Jones Day Beijing Office as a partner. He comes to the firm from DLA Piper where he was Beijing managing partner. Recognized as an expert in international trade, arbitration, and corporate matters, Tao has advised on China-related matters since 1985 and maintained an active practice in China for more than fifteen years. Before joining DLA Piper, Tao was the Managing Partner of Coudert Brothers' China Practice.
Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP represented Deutsche Bank AG Hong Kong Branch and JP Morgan Securities (Asia Pacific) Limited , global coordinators, bookrunners and sponsors of the global offering of Zhong An Real Estate Holdings, a leading real estate developer in the Yangtze River Delta region. The offering raised US$465 million (HK$3.62 billion) with a Hong Kong public offer and an international offering.
Herbert Smith advised Goldman Sachs relating to the HK$2.86 billion (US$368 million) placing of Lenovo shares by Texas Pacific Group, Newbridge Asia and General Atlantic LLC.
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised on the IPO and Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing by Alibaba.com Limited . The retail portion of the global offering was approximately 259 times oversubscribed, while the institutional portion was also heavily oversubscribed.

Lawyers the world over all share one agonizing experience: taking a bar examination followed by a nerve racking wait the long months for the results.
Results of the 2007 PRC bar exam 〞 one of the most difficult exams in China 〞 were recently released. The passing rate is estimated to be about 15%. The total number passing is estimated as about 40,000.
November is also an anxious month for candidates who took the July bar exams in New York and California . Fortunately for these test takers, the passing rates of both of them are much higher than the pass rate in China .

Chinese lawyers may not be the longest suffering. In Japan , the passing rate of the National Bar Examination is only about 3%.
